Climate and Food Security Briefing Reviews Latest Data at Start of U.S. Planting Season

Washington/March 18, 2013 – Experts in food security issues will address the latest data and information available on global water threats at a briefing in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, recognizing United Nations’ World Water Day. Sponsored by the Global Harvest Initiative and the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute at the University of Nebraska, the briefing on water, drought, climate change, and food security will coincide with the beginning of the spring planting season. The panelists will focus specifically on how farmers will cope with climate challenges to produce enough food to meet the needs of the future while building resilience and preserving natural resources.
