The Global Harvest Initiative is welcoming the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute (DWFI), a research institute at the University of Nebraska, as a new consultative partner and Cory J. Reed, senior vice president of global marketing services for John Deere Agriculture and Turf, to the GHI Board of Directors.

“The Daugherty Water for Food Institute’s collaboration with GHI amplifies our ability to influence the international conversation about water in agriculture,” said Dr. Roberto Lenton, Daugherty Water for Food Institute founding executive director.

Dr. Margaret Zeigler, Global Harvest Initiative executive director, welcomed DWFI, saying, “Water is one of the most important factors in our ability to feed a growing and increasingly affluent global population. DWFI’s partnership with the Global Harvest Initiative demonstrates the urgency of addressing the impacts of climate change on global water and food security.”

New member of the Board of Directors, Cory J. Reed, senior vice president of global marketing services for John Deere Agriculture and Turf, fills the role vacated by J.B. Penn, John Deere chief economist, who will now serve as treasurer.

On joining the Board, Cory Reed said, “I’m looking forward to serving on the GHI Board in support of advancement in agricultural productivity. We need policies that encourage investment, cross-industry collaboration, and technological development in agriculture. We must put policies in place that enable productive use of scarce inputs, such as fresh water, to meet the challenge of feeding a growing population.”
