The Global Harvest Initiative (GHI) elected Claudia Garcia, Elanco’s senior director of Global Corporate Affairs, to chair the Board of Directors for 2013. Garcia has been a valuable member of GHI’s Board since her organization joined in March 2012.

GHI Executive Director Margaret Zeigler welcomed the Board’s decision, saying, “Animal protein consumption is expected to double across the globe over the next 40 years, and three billion people will begin to diversify their diets with the addition of protein. In light of this, the Global Harvest Initiative is fortunate to have Claudia’s leadership and Elanco’s contributions for greater productivity in the global livestock sector. I am delighted to welcome her as our new Board chair and look forward to working closely with her as we drive sustainable solutions to meet the demands of a growing world.”

Garcia and her team at Elanco oversee government affairs, food industry and consumer affairs, global communications, and corporate responsibility.

Garcia has over 20 years of experience in a variety of fields including animal health and marketing. She has most recently held the position of senior area director of Latin America and Canada at Elanco. She earned a doctorate of veterinary medicine and animal science from the National University of Mexico (UNAM).
